平和の祈り

私の義母は、九州の佐賀県呼子の出身です。

義母は、カトリック教徒です。代々の信者ですから、隠れキリシタンの血筋です。

私自身は、キリスト教的世界観は、好きとは言いません。

しかし、マザー・テレサも愛したこの祈祷は、好きです。

ああ主よ
われをしておんみの平和の道具とならしめたまえ
われをして憎しみあるところに愛をもたらしめたまえ
争いあるところにゆるしを
分裂あるところに一致を
疑いあるところに信仰を
誤りあるところに真理を
絶望あるところに希望を
悲しみあるところによろこびを
闇あるところに光をもたらしめたまえ

ああ主よ
われをして慰めらるることを求めずして慰むることを求めしめ
理解さるることよりも理解することを
愛さるることよりも愛することを求めしめたまえ

そは　われらは自ら与うるがゆえに受け
ゆるすがゆえにゆるされ
おのが身をすてて死するがゆえに
とこしえのいのちを得るものなればなり

Lord, make me a channel of your peace,
That where there is hatred, I may bring love,
Where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
Where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
Where there is error, I may bring truth;
Where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
Where there is despair, I may bring hope;
Where there are shadows, I may bring light;
Where there is sadness, I may bring joy;
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort
than to be comforted;
To understand than to be understood;
To love than to be loved;
For it is by forgetting self that on finds,
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to eternal life. Amen.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
